18) Alonzo E. Emerson - Master - 1910, 1911

This is a work in process; the following information has been gathered so far:

Brief Bio:

Emerson, Alonzo Emery, 1868-1950;
Alonzo (Lon) Emery Emerson was born in Stetson, Maine on February 28, 1868. He came to Cle Elum, Washington in 1896 and moved to Ellensburg, Washington in 1905. Lon and his wife, Cordia Stafford, whom he had married in 1900, made their residence at 511 E. Eighth Avenue. He was a U.S. Postman in Ellensburg and also a title insurance salesman. Lon was a past grand master of the Masonic Lodge of Washington. He died on November 1950 in Seattle, Washington at the age of 82 years. (from http://www.washingtonruralheritage.com)

This is A. E. Emerson's Grand Master regalia.  It still hangs proudly in the Ellensburg Masonic temple.

He was Postmaster in Ellensburg, along with his other activities.  The Ellensburg Post office has a very interesting long-term tie to the Masonic Lodge.

This is Alonzo's Knights Templar sword.  It also is still displayed in the Temple.

A. E. Emerson was also County Clerk for Kittitas County from 1903-07.

He was very active in the community, he was president of a gold mining operation in the Swauk and was a partner in a few different business ventures - mostly with his masonic brothers.  More to come on this gentleman......
